The 2009 IZOD IndyCar series season established Ryan Briscoe as one of the series' top drivers and a title contender. In his second full season with Roger Penske's legendary Team Penske, Briscoe scored 3 wins and 5 poles. Briscoe took the championship fight down to the last lap of the last race of the season before finishing a career best 3rd.
