DETROIT, MI - Our very own David Hobbs, a veteran of nearly every major championship series in the world, a member of the SPEED TV Formula 1 broadcast team and a 2009 inductee of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the Hall of Fame's Aug. 24 Induction Ceremony at the Fillmore Theater in Detroit.
Hobbs was a professional racer for three decades competing in sedans, sports cars and GT cars, including 20 starts in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He also competed in Formula 1, the Indy 500 and the Daytona 500.
"We are delighted to have David Hobbs as Master of Ceremonies for this year's induction," said Ron Watson, President of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. "His stature as a Hall of Fame driver and as a highly regarded broadcaster is sure to be a tremendous addition to the 2011 event.Racing legends Donnie Allison, Sid Collins, Roger McCluskey, Ed McCulloch, Augie Pabst, Bruce Penhall and Ed Winfield will be enshrined during the annual induction celebration on August 23 and 24, 2011 in Detroit.
The new inductees will unveil their permanent Hall of Fame sculptures at the "Heroes of Horsepower" Reception to be held at the Detroit Science Center on Tuesday, August 23, 2011. The black-tie Twenty Third Annual Induction Ceremony will take place at the historic Fillmore Detroit Theatre on Wednesday, August 24, 2011.
